Fellow Faculty

Collaborate with the teachers in your same content area.

Seek advice for classroom management from teachers with more experience in your grade level or content area.

Take advantage of opportunities to co-teach.

Create or coordinate cross-disciplinary connections.

Be willing to share lesson plans, materials, and resources with colleagues and contribute to a culture of mutual support.
Administration

Ensure that lesson plans adhere to school, district, and state requirements.

Include focus criteria (e.g. learning intentions, scaffolding strategies) set by administration in your lesson plans.

Utilize and adapt mandated curriculum in ways that best serve your specific students.

Seek administrative guidance and support in meeting school-wide learning targets.
Specialized Staff

Collaborate with Special Education teachers to best serve students with disabilities.

Collaborate with EL teachers for best practices in teaching EL learners.

Consult with school counselors about strategies for at-risk students or students with behavioral concerns.

Communicate attendance concerns to staff.

Ensure that you are up-to-date on students' IEP, IHP, and 504 plans.
Families & Community

Communicate with families regularly via phone, email, or in person.

Send messages to parents to acknowledge positive achievements as well as behavioral concerns.

Collaborate with parents and families on strategies to meet students' individual learning or behavioral needs.

Look for opportunities to integrate or serve the school community or local community in lesson plans.
